Networking Business Solution- Video Editor, Derik Hines

Derik Hines specializes in film and video editing with over 15 years of experience in broadcasting. He has built professional relationships within businesses as well as a cliental within his own organization called Unlimited Media Productionz and Dream Digital Media with a partner. Derik is a Video Editor; providing services in commercial shoots, documentaries, entertainment, promotions and/or corporate videos. He is also working at Harpo Studio here in Chicago for the OWN Network as a logger.
Derik’s interest grew while in high school where he would video tape for sports games and events. The desire increased once he graduated and he decided to pursue broadcasting at Lewis University. During his attendance at Lewis University he started his internship in 2002 with Post Effects in Chicago, IL; becoming skilled in editing. After completion of the program, Derik received his Bachelor’s Degree in Radio/Television Broadcasting in 2003.
Derik grew up on the Westside of Chicago and he was the only child. He stated “I can’t accept not trying or doing," being the only child can be difficult because of how people pass judgment. He stated his family owned a building where his grandparents lived on the first floor and he lived with his parents on the second floor, which really enhanced his understanding of how important “FAMILY” was and how strong one can become by allowing good family morals and values into their life. He informed me that his grandfather, James Stocker, played a huge role in his life and was inspiring. Derik’s grandfather played a dominant role in his life, which is one main reason why he has become a success and still learning. Working in the industry of broadcasting in the beginning, he sometimes wondered if he would be rejected and not gain opportunity due to his lack of experience.… “Just give me a chance," he would say. Now that Derik has gained the experience and skills needed; the rejection that he’s received does nothing but motivate him. Derik quote derives from Patience “I know this because I unwrap it every day."
He has been inspired by creative thinking and also people that he has worked within the broadcasting industry. Derik finds great joy in developing concepts; making film and editing come to life. During his spare time he enjoys mentoring, collecting baseball/basketball cards; playing basketball, singing, and coaching basketball.

I would just like to personally thank Derik for being apart of Networking Business Solutions and I wish you much success in your career.
