Jay Washington graduated from Harper High School in Chicago and immediately did not go straight into college. He began working to support his self as well as help out his mother. Jay has experienced several challenges in comedy some of which he found himself trying to overcome. One big thing was finding which crowds he was most comfortable in as well as the settings and the material he wanted to deliver to his target audience. Jay realized that he worked better in a more upscale yet casual environment because he desired to talk about some of the things in which some of his audience didn't relate too; when many times others did. Also, the adversity amongst other comedians especially those who falsely accused him of stealing comics from varies comedians. Jay stated "I've had people who simply didn't like me because Ididn't want to go down the same path or follow in the same circles as others." Throughout difficulties and struggles he's managed to press forward in order to grow as well as established a marketable brand for himself night in & night out."
Growing up in a poverty stricken neighborhood with much violence and turmoil; inspired Jay to focus on his talents. He saw many people gunned down and taken away due to senseless violence and he vowed to himself not to become a victim of it or go down the same path. He values his achievements such as being the 1st runner-up of the Laugh Track Comedy Festivalin Denver, Colorado as well as had an article published in The Comic Bible magazine in regards to a streak of performing 100 nights of stand-up comedy in a row. Jay attended Everest College; graduated from there with a degree in Medical Administrative Assisting. He is currently back in school pursuing his degree in Business administration to help further advance his career both on and off of the stage. Focused on his dream in comedy and making education his priority on the road to success; he is inspired as a father and works diligently at his profession.
